![]() Anyway, something's not right with the trans so he sends it back to them and asks them to check the Redneck converter for him while they're at it. Drivability was also improved, requiring LESS pedal to pull away from a stop, despite the higher advertised stall speed.įlash forward a couple years and my buddy has a similar Redneck converter in his turbocharged Chevelle with a Hughes trans. Launches were vastly stronger and because of the converter's smaller diameter (lighter), revving through the low gears felt like I dropped 500 lbs. WRONG! The new converter absolutely TRANSFORMED the car. ![]() Stall speed was only a couple hundred higher than the old one, so didn't expect much improvement. Anyway, I bought a blower-specific converter from Redneck over the internet (heard they were better than the catalog converters for similar money). I could foot-brake it higher than it's rated stall speed and the launch was just. I had a cheapie in my TH-350 a few years back. Just knowing the stall speed doesn't tell you much about it's efficiency or torque multiplication. The quality of the converter matters a lot.
